Sofronio Vasquez, a standout finalist on The Voice season 26, has captured hearts with his powerful voice and unwavering determination. As he heads into the highly anticipated finale alongside Shye, Sydney Sterlace, Jeremy Beloate, and Danny Joseph, Vasquez opens up about his experience on the show and the obstacles he’s overcome to reach this milestone.
A Journey Marked by Sacrifice
For Vasquez, the most challenging aspect of his time on The Voice has been the emotional distance from his family in the Philippines. “Being away from my family has been the hardest part of this journey,” he shared. “It’s a different music scene back home, where big belters are celebrated, but here, it’s all about connecting with souls.”
This cultural shift pushed Vasquez to adapt and grow as an artist. Early in the competition, he realized he needed to tap into his emotions to resonate with the audience truly. “I told myself, ‘Come on, Sofronio, settle in. You have your voice, you have your heart. Just sing it,’” he said, reflecting on how he overcame the initial hurdles.
Building a Family on The Voice
Vasquez says one of the most rewarding parts of the journey has been the relationships he’s formed with his fellow contestants and the production team. “The Voice family I have now is something I’ll cherish forever,” he said. “Win or lose, we’re all celebrating the incredible experience we’ve had.”
As the finale approaches, Vasquez remains grounded. “No matter what happens, we’ll go back to the hotel and celebrate. It’s been an amazing run, and we’ve felt so much love from the production team and America.”
A Duet to Remember
For the grand finale, Vasquez is set to perform a duet with his coach, the legendary Michael Bublé. Teasing the performance, Vasquez expressed his excitement, saying, “We complement each other well, and it’s going to be a special moment.”
Bublé, who is coaching both Vasquez and Shye, has been vocal about his admiration for his team. “My artists have worked incredibly hard. They deserve this moment, and I’m so proud of them,” he told PEOPLE earlier this month.
Looking Ahead
Regardless of the outcome, Vasquez is confident in his future. His journey on The Voice has not only showcased his talent but also highlighted his resilience and ability to connect with audiences worldwide. As he takes the stage for the finale on Tuesday, Dec. 10, Vasquez knows he’s already a winner in many ways.
